People familiar with Lincoln Motor Company know that it is the luxury division of Ford Motor Company. Vehicles produced by Lincoln are intended to compete with vehicles from another luxury brand: Cadillac. Found in 1917 by Henry and Wilfred Leland, Lincoln was purchased by Ford with the goal of having two other brands, Lincoln, and Mercury, as the brands above Ford. In 2010, the production of Mercury vehicles was ceased, leaving Lincoln as Ford’s single luxury brand.
